Sunrise ride
Over a tee, zip down, on the bike or on the sofa.
Chapter 02 · The Charcoal point of view
Between a meeting and a train. Between a plan and the better one you make on the way. That is the part of the day we design for.
The niche
A day in the collection
Every campaign image comes in a pair: the same person, the same clothes, once at work and once in motion. Laid end to end, they make one long day. The clock follows you down the page.

Over a tee, zip down, on the bike or on the sofa.

Zip it to the collar for an early run or a cold court.

Open over the Snap Polo or a white tee, with either trouser. It replaces the blazer on travel days.

Over a white collared shirt with the Olive Trouser.

Tuck it into the Pleated Trouser with a leather belt. The snap placket closed reads as a proper collar.

With the Sky Snap Polo or a white shirt. Olive is a quieter alternative to navy or black.

Tucked into the Pleated Trouser, zip closed, under the Zip Jacket if the room is cold.

With the Blue Polo for contrast, or the Quarter Zip for one tonal grey.

With the Olive Trouser, tucked. It does the job of a light blue shirt.

Zip open, untucked, with shorts and court shoes.

Untucked with dark trousers, or straight to the range as it is.

Pop the snaps, untuck it, change into trainers. Nothing else needs to change.

With a plain tee and trainers. The tapered leg stays out of the way.

With a fitted tee and court shoes. The pleat gives the room.
The name
Charcoal lives between black and white. It has the restraint to sit quietly in a boardroom and enough character to hold its own on a court. That balance became our brief: familiar pieces with one thoughtful decision in every line.
The mark is two slashes, two parts of the same day, set side by side and leaning the same way.
What we take, what we leave
What we believe
Work is followed by a game, an errand, a long way home. Clothes should not need a change of plan.
A snap placket. A pleat. A clean chest. Each design gets one thoughtful idea, not ten loud ones.
Seven pieces that go with each other beat thirty that only go with one shirt.
If the fabric is not confirmed, we say so. If a price is proposed, we say so. Trust starts before payment.
The details

Made in the open
The designs are defined; sampling is the next test. The images on this site show our intention and the prices show where we expect the collection to sit. Every campaign image is an AI-generated concept, not a photograph of a finished garment.
We confirm fabric, measurements, final colour and delivery with each customer before we take any money. That is how we want this to begin: clearly.
SS27 design sheets, codes 101 to 107, with colours and sizes.
Front and back views for every design, and on-body scenes at work and in motion.
Tell us what you want. It shapes how many of each we sample and make.
Fabric, hand-feel and fit are tested on real samples.
Published here as soon as they are confirmed.
Who is behind it
Charcoal is built by six co-founders who share the work equally. Names and portraits go here once each of them has signed off on how they want to appear.
